When the Bounty Garden was conceived, an old barn stood on the property adjacent to the garden. Our lease included that property as a potential Phase II with no specific plans regarding the space. Over the years the barn fell into such disrepair that any form of rehabilitation was no longer a viable option. The decaying property was also home to pests that created problems for the garden. In 2021 The Bounty Garden worked with the town or Danville and Contra Costa County to have the barn demolished.
After ten years of operation the Bounty Garden has demonstrated that it is a viable organization that plays an important role in our community. With food insecurity still a significant problem in our area, the Directors of the Bounty Garden determined that it was time to expand. Our 2022 Expansion Project included the construction of eleven new raised beds, a lavender garden and additional pollinator plants.
